Are we at risk for cervical cancer?
Cervical cancer is the most common cancer of the female reproductive system and is the number one cause of death of Thai women. From statistics, we found that most patients have no warning signs in advance. The main cause is infection with high-risk HPV strains that can be transmitted through sexual contact with people who have this infection. Here is a way to check whether you are in the risk group for cervical cancer or not?
- Women who have sex at an early age are most susceptible to HPV infection.
- Women who have sex with men who have multiple sex partners are at risk of getting HPV.
- Women who have sex with men whose wives or partners have cervical cancer
- Women who have sex with many men increase their chances of contracting HPV.
- Women or men whose partner has a sexually transmitted infection such as herpes, gonorrhea, warts, etc.
- Women with diseases that cause low immunity, such as AIDS (HIV).
Thai women have cervical cancer, second only to breast cancer, but it's the only cancer that, if known before, can be prevented and cured by taking care of yourself, doing regular internal examinations and currently being HPV DNA screened.
