Did you know? "The color of gums" can indicate health issues.

Gums and teeth go hand in hand, with gums being equally important as teeth. If you have gum problems, it can be just as agonizing as toothaches. Besides taking care of our dental health through cleaning, it's crucial to also maintain healthy gums. Today, we have information on how the "color of gums" can indicate your health status.

  • Pink gums: People with pink gums can fall into two main categories. They either have excellent gum health or their gum color
  • Brown gums: It's a common misconception that people with brown gums may have gum health issues. However, having brown gums can be natural and may be attributed to one's skin color, like those with darker skin tones or excessive sun exposure. Therefore, having brown gums doesn't necessarily indicate gum problems.

  • Yellow gums: Yellow gums are an early sign of gum issues. The gums may appear pale yellow and swollen. In some cases, there may be pus formation, indicating a bacterial or viral infection.
  • Black gums: Having black gums is often a result of one's own behaviors, such as heavy smoking or prolonged use of certain medications. These factors can affect the color of gums and teeth.
