Improper Use of Headphones Might Be Hazardous to Your Health
Headphones allow people to enjoy music and have conversations from anywhere at any time. When you open the pockets of many teens and working adults, you'll notice that #headphones are just as crucial as phones and wallets. As a result, "wearing headphones" is a popular behavior in today's society and earphones have become an inseparable part of our lives. However, wearing improper headphones can cause serious hearing problems if they are used for a prolonged period of time. Let’s take a look at some of the health risks:
- Wearing headphones when sleeping
Many people have the habit of listening to music while falling asleep. Calming sounds can help people relax before falling asleep by alleviating stress and lowering heart rate. There’s nothing wrong with relying on headphones before bed, but falling asleep with them on can cause several health risks as adjusting your sleeping position unknowingly while sleeping can irritate both outer and inner ear. Lying sideways with headphones on will press against the hard ear plugs, producing pain in the outer ears and spreading to the jaw area, making it difficult to open the mouth to chew food. These symptoms can progress to deafness or pus in the ear, resulting in temporary or permanent deafness. - #Listen to loud music
Some people like to turn up the volume and listen to loud music. Listening to music at loud volumes for extended periods can cause damage to parts of your inner ear that detect sound and send signals to the brain which can result in both temporary and permanent hearing loss or deafness. - #Wearing headphones while charging your phone
The normal mains voltage is 220 volts, when using a quality charger it passes through a power converter until reduced to roughly 5 volts which is insufficient to electrocute someone. The reason why wearing headphones when charging your battery is not recommended is because if the charger is an off-brand or non-genuine charger, it might not be giving your phone the same amount of voltage as the manufacturer’s charger provides. As a result the headphone wire will most likely be a conductor of electrical leakage into the body and can cause electrocution in the end.
